DAD’S 36^th BIRTHDAY

“Charlie? Go away Danny” I am trying to sleep in peace. But its Dads Birthday I gasped I can not believe it is finally Dads Birthday I get Danny to tell Dad I was awake and I started reading zombie bums from Uranus. My Grandparents were here for Dads 36^th and I started it by helping dad around the farm and I think that made Dad happy. Later in the afternoon Dad said we were going to see the penguins and go out for tea. I was pretty happy to go and see the penguins and I thought they were going to be big Antarctica penguins but I was wrong hey were blue penguins at 30 cm tall! Dinner was great I got a ginger beer and Granddad was going to give me some of his black beer but Mum stopped him I was pretty disappointed.

Everyone start’s arriving I’m so excited Dad’s not here yet that’s great. We are at the Oamaru club at 7:30 at night April the 13^th. We are having all having the most extraordinary surprise party for my Dad’s 40^th.

 Dad does not suspect anything. It is also my Mum’s birthday, and Dad think’s at 8, O’clock he will come and take Mum out for her birthday dinner. Ding Ding Ding! 30 minutes later Dad arrives. Mum cried I’m going to get him. Mum found Dad and Mum exclaimed oh lets go and see how the function is going in the hall.

So they came down and Dad asked Mum what the function was, and Mum said it was a birthday. One minute later Mum walked in with Dad behind her .Oh says Dad he had saw Nina and Zach’s Dad John .Oh said Mum he must be at the party. Then he saw the sign … He went bright red. Dad burst into laughter Ebony Nisha and I sprinted over to him and hugged him. It made feel so happy.

 Dad’s party was amazing we had kept the secret for four months and I almost spilt the beans a few times. And it made all of our problems went to the back of our head’s. 

Nina's Recount

 It all started this holidays my family went to the Gold Coast. We went to all five theme parks. My favourite park was Dreamworld, it had my favourite rides.

Zach and I haven’t been to the Gold Coast since we were six and that was five years ago.

Back to Dreamworld the first ride I went on was the claw. I ran as fast as I could because they were about to shut the gate. I sprinted through the gate and quickly sat down, I couldn’t wait. We went slowly side to side then it went fast, faster, faster. It was going so fast that gravity was pulling your face. It went so high you could see the whole of Dreamworld.

The next ride I went on was the wipeout I heard the guy say enjoy the ride. It went around in circles then it started doing forward flips and then backwards flips. OMG my hearts racing my tummy turns and I feel like I’m going to be sick and fall out of my seat.

I had an amazing time at Dreamworld and I wish I could go there again next year in the Christmas holidays.

Going Bow and Arrow Shooting

Whoosh, thud, went the arrows at the target. On Saturday 4^th of May 2013 went to archery shooting or you can call it bow and arrow shooting as some of you may know it.

Then again thud, whoosh but this time it was me and Tara shooting, “Bulls eye,” I shouted as my arrow thudded into the target. Tara got the yellow.

Then Dad said, “Max and Jac shoot now and then I’ll buy everyone an ice cream”. We all got ice creams and surprisingly everyone got raspberry trumpets. It was delicious. Five minutes later we were back shooting arrows at the targets. “Phew,” I said after I had had my turn. It was a very hot day. An hour later the man said your time is up.

We went in to the car I said, “That was so amazing.”

Laura's Recount

My holiday

Are we there yet? Man its so boring driving for three and a half hours. At three o` clock we went to Christchurch for my Cousin Millie`s 5^th birthday! When we got to Ashburton we had tea then we carried on with the trip.

We went across this funny old bridge that took about a minute to cross about half an hour later I saw planes landing at Christchurch airport then I said “we must be close!” then 45 minutes later we were still driving!

At three o` clock in the morning I woke up SNEEZING with hay fever I said “I’m allergic to my bed!”

In the morning we went to my cousin’s house in redwood then I went with my cousin Tyra to the mall in redwood called northlands! There was smiggle there!

At the party there was a bunch of little kids so me and my cousins went for a scoter ride to redwood school when we were about to leave these teenagers said can we go on your scoter? We just ignored them!

After the party we had to leave Christchurch back pass the airport pass that funny old bridge and back home to Oamaru.
